Looks like another Amazon Echo update today. Kinda cool with a traffic report. Opening the settings, go to traffic and enter destination. Ask Alexa, How is the traffic? and she give you a report. Enjoy.
Not a new feature, but just noticed it today. In a app drop down menus for more info and a text with "Echo heard......". You can push the arrow button on that line and it plays back what you said....That could be a cool memo function...huh!!
Time limit for recording seem to be 10 seconds. I read some sentences to Alexa for various times..then went to settings, history, view requests to your Echo. Pushed play button and timed the recording...came out to 10 seconds max.
New feature out...use Pandora for streaming music...from Amazon " To get started, enter your Pandora account information in the Amazon Echo App (Settings > Music Services). Once connected, enjoy the music with the following voice commands: "Alexa, play a Pop station on Pandora" "Alexa, create a Pandora station for [band name]" "Alexa, pause" or "Alexa, skip/next" "Alexa, thumbs up/down" In addition, Major League Baseball and Major League Soccer are now available via the sports scores and schedules feature. Try "Alexa, what was the score of the Seattle Sounders game?" or "Alexa, when do the San Francisco Giants play next?" Play ball! ' Pandora seemed to work for about 10 minutes for me...then after I asked to listen to more songs, Alexa reported having difficulty connecting to Pandora (poor girl)..might be a glitch in the system for now
Big Big improvement today...now Echo works with WeMo and Phillips Hue wifi devices!!! This is the kind of stuff that people wanted Alexa to do regarding home automation. Now I have to learn about home automation devices and find some good deals on compatible equipment...Anyone know of special deals going on for Philip Hue or WeMo devices?
Does anyone know if Amazon will be adding the ability for multiple Echos to work together so that you can have one unit in one room and talk to another unit in another room?
Haven't heard either way on that but would be a cool feature...maybe Alexa can just talk to herself when no one is paying attention to her ....you might send that recommendation in from the general feedback section in the amazon app for echo..never know..they may be working on it!!!
You can do that with the dev kit/api. I have stalled on putting up code for the time being because I lost my voice from a cold lol. I hope to start up on it again in a couple weeks.
OK...I'm ignorant about the home automation stuff right now. Question: Do I need to buy the wemo or phillips controller/link device OR does is amazon echo able to control the devices without the controller/link part of the system?
