How An Optimized Press Release
Helps Your Website and Your Business

When I used to hear the word "press release", the first thing that would come to mind would be the old "Superman" shows, with the Daily Planet screaming headlines like,
"Has Superman Turned Criminal???"

How often have you had something happen with your company, or gotten a great new million dollar luxury home to sell...or wanted to announce to everybody that you found a fantastic preconstruction condo development that you just KNOW will be the hottest thing in town?

It's nearly impossible to go to your local newspaper and get them to write about something that is important to you...unless it's about murder, or a flim-flam scheme, or someone who is a local hero and needs a brain transplant.

But with the internet, many people have stopped taking the local paper.  I don't know the numbers, but I know that about half of my friends get their daily news off the internet. Google News,
Yahoo News, and MSNBC's News offer anything you want from a daily news source, and in a lot more fun format than holding up a hard to handle newspaper.

But what is more exciting is that internet news sources don't rely on one or two reporters or your local or even national newspapers to supply news.   There are several internet press services that allow EVERYONE to write a press release!   These services send the press pieces out over the API, and they can be, and are read and even picked up by CNN, Television News websites, and of course, the search engines!

I personally know of a realtor friend, Diann Tonnesen in Las Vegas, who has written many of the best written, most interesting press releases on real estate that I've read.  Last year, CNN read one of her articles about condos in Las Vegas, and called her for an interview!  If that doesn't show you a value to writing them, I don't know what does.

But there's more...  Some of the services let you write for free.  If you want a cheap way to advertise, that's your ticket.   However, for a fee, usually around $200, you can insert links into your press release...links back to your website, using your own chosen search phrases, providing links that the search engines love.   What better way to let your customers know you are the local expert on real estate, get new visitors to your website that could become your next customer, and push your website's standing in the search engines to a higher level at the same time?

We use two of these press services: PR.com, and my favorite,
PR Web.com.   There are several new ones out there, but I'm not familiar with them.  Both of these have their own good points.

PR.com
This one is unique in that they allow you to build a mini-website for free.   They also charge PER link, instead of a fee for the press release with links.  Here's an example of what you can do.   Note the navigation at the top and the site they allowed us to build for free.  All of it was a single charge of $39 for the link.

PRWEb.com
This is one of the most robust, interactive, and helpful services I have ever seen.  There seems to be no end to the services they continue to offer.   I haven't had the time to investigate even half of them, but they have an RSS function, some kind of Pod-casting ability, and many other services, including a crew to optimize your press release if you don't know how.   The best package they offer is about $250, not counting their SEO service, and it includes submission to all of their news sources, all of the above, and several different formats and pages that they put out.

We offer help with writing a press release through Myrtle Beach Web Design and will be happy to talk to you about it.   I can't emphasize enough how important these press releases can be to your website, and whether you do it yourself, or pay someone to do one for you, I highly recommend doing them with one or both of these fine companies.

Here's an example of one of our most beneficial press releases.   We did this with several of our partners in different parts of the country. It's been read over 100,000 times, and is on many different websites.   It also shows up quite often in search engine results...even YEARS after we did it!
